BACKGROUND

Rich Pratt is a husband and father raising two sons in Taylor.  A 1987 graduate of Truman, his two sons attend Taylor public schools and will be advancing to Middle School and High School in September.

Rich is an Elder at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Taylor, where he has taught Sunday School, worked in Youth Ministries and is now responsible for worship technology, running the soundboard and live stream.  His is a member of Golden Ark Masonic Lodge in Taylor where he served as Worshipful Master in 2017 and 2021, he is currently serving as lodge treasure.  He is also a member of the Taylor Housing Commission.

VISION FOR TAYLOR

Taylor has changed dramatically since he was growing up in the 70's and 80's but Rich wants to continue that sense of community that makes Taylor the great city it is.

As the markets shift and the world changes, Taylor needs to be ready to adjust to the changes and there are members on the city council right now that are afraid to make tough decisions and have hidden agendas that are affecting the city's progress.

You may not like how I vote, but I promise you will know why I voted that way.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Rich Pratt started his career in the US Navy Nuclear Program, which taught him the importance of intense study, attention to detail and personal integrity.  4 years serving on a nuclear submarine taught him how to work on a team and that you don’t have to like someone to work with them.  Those core skills have served him well in his civilian career.

After the Navy Rich started with CSI, a small company in Tennessee using the skills he learned in the Navy to apply technology to industrial equipment to identify developing faults; allowing a more proactive approach to maintenance.  After 3 years with CSI, Rich was recruited by P&H Mining Equipment in a similar role, joining a team in Arizona and eventually moving to the corporate headquarters in Milwaukee as the technical lead, supporting teams of technicians in the US, South America and Australia.  When P&H’s parent company went into bankruptcy Rich was offered his choice of positions in the restructured company but instead chose to return to CSI, which had been purchased by Emerson as a regional service manager.

Rich managed 9 remote employees across multiple states, ending up as the Western manager out of California.  In 2005 Rich moved to a new role as a Subject Matter Expert, which allowed him to return to Taylor, buying the house he grew up in.

In 2011, Rich’s son took his first steps in Taylor, and Rich watched the video in a hotel room in Calama, Chile.  Deciding he was done with international travel, Rich went to work with the local Emerson business partner, Cornerstone Controls in a similar role.  Rich has been with Cornerstone for 13 years, supporting customers in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky

MISSION STATEMENT

Trust is a Two Way Street.

Everyone calls for Transparency in the City, but no one is looking for Trust.  Trust is a two way street, it requires both give and take.  My goal is to restore the people's trust in the city.

If I am elected to City Council I promise -

  • Every decision I make will be researched.

  • Every decision I make will be explained, you might not like the explanation, but you get one.

  • I will do what is best for Taylor, not any hidden special interests.

  • My vote is mine, no one else's, I am not a part of a "Team".

  • I will work with the administration and the full council, it doesn't matter who's idea it is, if it is good, I will support it.
